International Women’s Day

In 1975, the United Nations began celebrating March 8 as International Women’s Day to empower new sources of innovation against disparity.

Barbara Bush is a woman who understands. She founded Global Health Corps to create a pipeline of innovative leaders for health equity at the community level worldwide.

“A passionate voice in the global fight to confront some of the most prevalent health equity issues of our time,” says the Livingston Economic Club, describing why she was chosen to kickoff their 2012 Luncheon Speaker Series this year on March 8.

THE PRESIDENT:  Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans:

Last month, I went to Andrews Air Force Base and welcomed home some of our last troops to serve in Iraq.  Together, we offered a final, proud salute to the colors under which more than a million of our fellow citizens fought — and several thousand gave their lives.
