LOUISVILLE – The American Independent Party endorsed the presidential exploratory campaign of Ronald Grey in a message to Twitter followers on Monday.
The endorsement came not only in the same week a Gallup poll reported approval in the federal government has dropped to its lowest level ever but also amid widespread dissatisfaction with the current Republican field.
“I’m impressed,” said Markham Robinson, chairman of the conservative AIP, explaining his reason for supporting Grey, whose competence and character from experience in the U.S. Army and studying at Harvard convinced him to trust in Grey’s leadership skills, thus allowing Robinson to overcome a history of skepticism about other contenders for the White House. “I say that seldom.”
Claiming Democrats and Republicans had both “deserted the principles and traditions of our nation’s founding fathers,” the AIP formed in Bakersfield on July 8, 1967 and has become California’s fastest growing political party.
Grey lives in his native state of Kentucky.
