How Obama’s Change Could Have Been for the Worser

Barack Obama made change for a health-spending bill his top priority in 2009, when America demanded an immediate focus on critical jobs and real-estate markets in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

The following depiction of Obama’s leadership — described by economist Larry Summers as a “Home Alone” administration — is from Peggy Noonan, chief speechwriter for President George Bush:

The decision to focus on health care was the president’s own. It could have been even worse. Some staffers advised him — this was just after the American economy lost almost 600,000 jobs in one month — that he should focus on global warming.
